I really should delve into some of the Nima brushes as I've heard some amazing things about them. Thanks for your comment, I love to hear what you all have to say! Sunday, 28 September Makeup brushes are a real soft spot of mine, and despite the fact that I am not a working MUA, I have hundreds of the damn things.
I am always advocating that you do not need to spend a fortune to have some great quality brushes in your collection. Today I am comparing three stippling brushes at three different price points to demonstrate that you do not need to fork out big bucks for decent quality tools. I've only actually be conscientiously using stippling brushes to apply powder products for the last year or so.
I generally prefer angled kabukis, but found the overall effect was not as airbrushed as I would have liked. I remember watching an MUA applying highlighter with a stippling brush at a makeup demonstration and I was struck by how flawless the application was. I personally don't use stippling brushes for cream products- for the most part because I just simply don't use cream blushes or highlighters and I prefer a kabuki brush to apply my foundation.
This brush is a dream to apply product with and a dream to use. The brush hairs are not too tightly packed which helps with blending and not too flimsy which help with product placement. This brush is so soft and feels lovely on the skin. THis is also a great brush for applying cream blush.
My two problems with this brush is the white bristles can get stained and it sheds occasionally.
Stippling brushes: All you need to know – what are they, how to use, and which to buy
I use this much like a stippling brush and it works great. It's perfect if you want a natural look, or you can easily build up layers for more coverage. I use it for foundation and it works amazingly, but it can be used for powders or other cream blushers or bronzers. It's pretty expensive, but i think all MAC brushes are worth it because of the excellent quality of the brushes and the fact they will last a very long time. This brush is also multi-purpose so it'll save you from buying more than 1 brush.
Stippling brush VS foundation brush
I really like this brush, and I've never had any problems with shedding as others seem to have had. I use it everyday to apply my foundation MAC studio fix powder which not only means the foundation goes on well and doesn't cake up, it also means I don't waste any so it makes it last a lot longer - and I have noticed I'm using less since I changed from a different brush.
I wash it using shampoo regularly and never have to think twice about it. I only wish it came with a brush cover - I still use the original plastic cover it came in because I haven't bothered to get anything else but if there was a sturdier cover I would really like it. I was keen to get my hands on this brush as it is the closest to a foundation stippling brush as MAC make. I must confess myself disappointed when using it to apply my Studio Fix Fluid and I have tried it with other foundations since just to make sure I got a good feel of it.
The fibres are beautiful and soft but they just aren't quite stiff enough to stipple on foundation in my opinion. This is yet another MAC brush that is perfect for that airbrushed foundation finish. I dab a small amount of foundation over my face and stipple it in with a patting motion until it has spread over my face leaving me with tiny little dots of foundation on my skin. I then lightly move the brush in circles over my face to blend the foundation together.
